Occupational Health Program
The Occupational Health Program aims to assist the client in the planning, elaboration and maintenance of Health Programs, ensuring the worker's health, promoting their physical, mental and social well-being, aiming at the same time for operational continuity and increased productivity. The Program complies with a minimum standard of requirements, in order to comply with legal requirements, as stipulated by the labor law of Mozambique, article 221 referring to the performance of occupational medical examinations, however it is subject to adaptation to the norms and legal requirements demanded from the client as long as the stipulated by local legislation is complied with.
Specific objectives of the Occupational Health Program the following:
- Preserve the health of the client's employees with regard to the prevention of work-related diseases, as well as that of endemic diseases, acting, with greater emphasis and focus, in promoting health standards based on epidemiological studies;
- Ensure compliance with applicable legislation;
- Ensure compliance with the health indicator targets expressed in the Client Policy
The performance of occupational examinations is a practice that, in addition to a legal requirement, can become a guarantee for both the employer and the employee, in the event of a disease related or not with work, as well as in the definition of physical fitness candidates for the job proposed at the time of hiring.
The recommended medical exams are as follows:
- Pre-admission exam:
- Carried out before the beginning of the worker's duties.
- Periodic exam:
- Performed every 12 (twelve) months, or 24 (24 months), or at shorter intervals, at the discretion of the Occupational Physician.
- Examination of change of function:
- Before the Member is transferred. This should be done only if there is a change in the Danger / Risk.
- Return to work exam:
- Whenever the Member resumes his / her functions after a period of absence equal to or greater than 30 (thirty) days.
- Dismissal Examination:
- Performed up to 90 days before the employee's actual leave, or 90 days after the last occupational medical examination.
- This periodicity may vary depending on applicable legal requirements and / or contractual clauses with the client.
The Occupational Health Medical Control Program - PCMSO, prepared under the responsibility of the Occupational Physician, must contain the actions in the field of health planned for the period of 12 (twelve) months and an organization structured in the following activities:
- Assessment of Risks related to Work by Process / activity / function / homogeneous group of exposure;
- Conducting Occupational Exams to all client employees and issuing an Occupational Health Certificate (ASO);
- Guidance on risk control measures;
- Medical records and controls;
- Training / Lectures and awareness campaigns for DO prevention;
- Results Indicators / statistics.
